Myth 1: Cosmetic Dentistry is Painful<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This myth really isn\u2019t exclusive to cosmetic dentistry\u2014just about every kind of oral healthcare has a reputation for being more uncomfortable than it actually is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case of cosmetic dentistry, there\u2019s really no need to be concerned about discomfort. Most of the procedures, like teeth whitening and direct bonding, don\u2019t go any deeper than the surface of the tooth\u2014many of them don\u2019t even require anesthetic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But in the case of slightly more invasive procedures, your dentist isn\u2019t going to have any problem giving you as much anesthetic as you need to be completely comfortable for the duration of the procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Myth 2: Cosmetic Dentistry is Unaffordable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Obviously, everyone\u2019s definition of \u201caffordable\u201d is a little bit different. That said, the idea that cosmetic dentistry is out of the reach of most people\u2019s budget isn\u2019t necessarily true. While some treatments, like veneers, can be on the expensive side, that isn\u2019t the case for everything that falls under the realm of cosmetic dentistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Direct bonding is an example of a cosmetic treatment that can be remarkably powerful but doesn\u2019t have to break the bank. If you are upfront with your dentist about your financial situation, they can probably find something that would be beneficial for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Myth 3: Cosmetic Dentistry is Hard on the Teeth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The origins of this myth likely stem from teeth whitening, especially whitening kits that you might find at a store. Some people try these kits and don\u2019t get the results they\u2019re looking for, and overuse them as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, professional whitening treatment is administered by experts and is fine-tuned to your exact needs. You therefore will never have to worry about whether you\u2019re getting too much whitening, or whether there\u2019s going to be damage to your teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
